Dear typography enthusiasts, I hope this newsletter finds you well! I have a confession to make - in my off time away from Typogram’s duties, I’ve become more and more embedded in the fandom of House of the Dragon! The latest episodes have been so captivating that I can’t help but let this hobby spill into my weekdays at work. As a result, I’ve started creating fan art in the form of typography. This week’s newsletter is a tutorial born from my off-duty passion, and I’m excited to show you how I create these snippets of typographic composition using Typogram.
This tutorial demonstrates the power and versatility of our web app, highlighting several key features that make Typogram stand out.
Glyph Substitution We utilized Typogram’s extensive glyph substitution options to give each letter in "House" and "Dragon" a unique and ornate appearance. This feature allows you to select from multiple variations of each letter, adding flair and personality to your text.
Ligatures Our composition takes advantage of ligatures, particularly the "RA" ligature in "Dragon". Ligatures combine two or more characters into a single glyph, creating a more cohesive and visually appealing text.
Swap Shape with Icon To add visual interest, we incorporated icons into the composition. We placed a castle icon in the counter of the "O" in "House" and a dragon icon in the "O" of "Dragon". This feature allows you to seamlessly integrate icons into your typography.
AI-generated Icons The castle and dragon icons used in this composition were generated by AI and then I simplified them for use. This showcases how Typogram embraces cutting-edge technology to enhance your design possibilities.
We used two different fonts in this composition - Fleur and Aire - both beautiful choices that are available exclusively on Typogram through our partner The Type Founders. The OpenType feature support in Typogram makes it easy to apply these advanced typographic features with just a few clicks.

Hearing From You
As I venture into the world of YouTube content creation, I’d love to hear your thoughts on my channel. What do you think of the recent videos? I’m in the early stages of building this channel, and right now I lack any strategy, merely go on my instinct at the moment, which I know is not very long term.
What topics would you like to see covered? How often would you prefer to see new content? Should I focus on in-depth tutorials, quick tips, or a mix of both? Your feedback will help me establish a consistent rhythm and develop a sound strategy for the channel. Please share your ideas, suggestions, and any constructive criticism – they’re all welcome and appreciated
Drop your thoughts in the comments, or feel free to email me directly. Let’s make this channel as awesome as our community!
